The Badderam Eco Luxe Resort and Spa development was planned to nestle into the eastern slopes of Mount Buderium, commanding uninterrupted views to the coast. Conceptually envisioned as a sustainable, zero waste,5-starresort, the design quickly evolved to reflect the natural, organic beauty of the preserved remnant rain forest over 40% of the 4 hectares, steeply sloping site.
The development was approved in 2018 and with the sale of the site and development in 2022 the new owner terminated the development approval.
The steep site made both servicing and guest accessibility challenging. A novel subterranean network for servicing in combination with pathway and cable car for guest and emergency vehicle circulation, was adopted. The mere act of arriving and travelling from the accommodation becoming both an adventure and a celebration.
The wildly organic form of the developed for both the planning and structure of the accommodation units was, similarly to the guest circulation, intended to excite and stimulate, removing all guest preconception of a luxury accommodation unit. This would have truly been a challenge to realise this the result being a truly unique resort experience.
